MARITIME AND COASTAL WORKS

Maritime and coastal works carried out on port structures, dikes, jetties, and offshore infrastructures, in exposed and technical environments.

INTERVENE ON EXPOSED INFRASTRUCTURES, WITH CONTROL AND SAFETY

SIDON operates across the entire French coastline to carry out complex maritime and port works in demanding environments subject to strong natural constraints. We support infrastructure managers, local authorities, and project owners in the maintenance, repair, and construction of coastal or offshore structures, with human and technical resources tailored to each mission.

With a team of certified professional divers, maritime civil engineering technicians, and adaptable nautical equipment, we perform sustainable, secure interventions that comply with QHSE standards. Our expertise covers all stages of a project: from underwater inspections to dredging, through the rehabilitation of port structures or the installation of equipment at sea.

We intervene specifically on dikes, breakwaters, quays, jetties, docks, piles, bridgeheads, coastal protection works, offshore outfalls, and any other structure exposed to maritime constraints. SIDON masters techniques specific to exposed environments: underwater welding, submerged sealing, concrete injection, trimming, anti-corrosion treatment, anchoring, mechanical or hydraulic dredging, and salvage of submerged objects.

Our interventions take place in various contexts: port construction sites, preventive or corrective maintenance, bringing existing structures up to standards, securing navigation zones, or restoring the continuity of port services.

In collaboration with port authorities, maritime engineering firms, general contractors, and maritime industry stakeholders, we guarantee robust and tailored solutions, even in co-activity or occupied sites. Each intervention is prepared with a rigorous prevention plan, a detailed risk analysis, and technical resources calibrated according to site accessibility, weather-marine conditions, and deadlines.

SIDON is the guarantee of a reliable partner for all your maritime and coastal works, capable of intervening quickly across the national territory, with expertise, rigor, and responsiveness.

Driving of steel or PVC sheet piles

We carry out the driving of steel or PVC sheet piles using vibro-driving or impact driving, depending on site conditions. This technique enables the creation of retaining curtains, quay walls, dikes, or coastal protections. It provides a robust solution to mechanical and hydraulic constraints in marine environments.

Driving of steel or concrete piles

Our teams carry out pile driving using impact, drilling, or injection techniques to create solid and durable foundations. These piles are used to anchor pontoons, jetties, dikes, or other structures exposed to maritime forces. Each solution is sized to withstand dynamic loads and saline environments.

Combined techniques: pre-drilling + impact driving / vibro-driving

We use mixed methods when the soil is hard, obstructed, or complex. Pre-drilling facilitates driving, reduces vibrations, and improves positioning accuracy. This approach ensures efficient implementation even in the most demanding contexts.

Use of hydraulic spreaders or high-frequency vibrodrivers (PAJOT, IHC)

We use specialized equipment to minimize acoustic and vibratory impact on sensitive areas (urban or industrial zones). High-frequency vibrators enable fast and controlled driving. These tools ensure both technical performance and compliance with environmental constraints.

Construction of quays, bridges, jetties, groynes, dikes, submerged tunnels

We construct heavy infrastructures using reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete, or metal structures designed for marine environments. These structures are built to withstand wave action, tides, and corrosion. Their construction follows a rigorous process and is implemented on-site or through prefabrication.

Repair of port structures (concrete, steel, submerged masonry)

Our teams carry out the rehabilitation of port structures degraded by time or marine exposure. We use resin injection, foundation repair, or renovation of submerged surfaces. These works extend the lifespan of infrastructures without the need for reconstruction.

Installation of submerged prefabricated elements (slabs, beams, caissons)

We ensure the precise placement of heavy underwater elements using floating cranes or underwater guidance systems. This method saves significant time on site while ensuring optimal execution quality. It is ideal for modular or complex structures.

Sealing and reinforcement of aging structures

We reinforce old or cracked structures by installing geotextiles, anchors, or protective shells. These interventions protect the structures from infiltration and scour, providing long-lasting stability to exposed maritime infrastructures.

Mechanical dredging (excavator, grab bucket, depper pontoon)

We carry out dredging and deepening operations using onboard mechanical equipment. Dredging helps maintain depths in ports, channels, or docking areas. It can also be used to create new basins or expansion zones.

Hydraulic dredging (pumping by discharge or suction)

Hydraulic dredging allows the extraction of large quantities of sediment in hard-to-reach areas. This fluid method is effective in deep basins, muddy zones, or over long stretches. It offers high production flow and minimal impact on structures.

Treatment and recycling of dredged materials

The extracted sediments are treated for optimal recycling: decanting, sorting, stabilization, or reuse as backfill. We also ensure their controlled disposal at authorized sites or specialized platforms. This approach minimizes ecological impact and optimizes the overall project cost.

Maintenance of channels, ports, and coastal industrial areas

We provide regular maintenance of waterways and port areas to ensure navigability and the safety of installations. These operations include dredging, cleaning, and inspection of structures. Preventive maintenance helps avoid operational disruptions and additional costs related to sedimentation.

Port or coastal towing (ships, barges, floating structures)

We provide towing services for floating structures, modules, or vessels in compliance with maritime safety regulations. Our boats are equipped to maneuver both in port areas and at sea. Each operation is planned according to weather and operational constraints.

Dynamic positioning or anchoring

Our teams ensure the positioning of barges, floating cranes, or platforms using anchoring systems or dynamic GPS positioning. These devices are essential in narrow areas or strong currents, ensuring maximum precision during offshore operations.

Heavy load lifting by floating crane or crane pontoon

We perform heavy and complex lifting operations at sea or in port areas using specialized equipment. Onboard cranes, spreaders, counterweights, and safety devices are used depending on the load. This service allows for the placement of prefabricated blocks, tools, or large structures.

Creation or expansion of port areas

We carry out port extension works through reclamation, bottom profiling, or cutting of existing structures. These developments are designed to improve the capacity or safety of docking areas, meeting the growing demands of maritime and logistics traffic.

Lowering of rock or natural weirs

We intervene to reduce shoals or rocky thresholds that hinder navigation. This is done through drilling, underwater blasting, rock breaking, or thermal cutting. These works require high technical expertise and strict safety measures for the intervention zones.

Excavation in tidal or variable access zones

Our teams operate in tidal or variable access zones using amphibious equipment or special tracked machines. Excavation is carried out based on hydraulic and weather windows, allowing for efficient work without disrupting the local ecosystem.

Feasibility and design studies for maritime structures

We conduct comprehensive studies to assess the technical, economic, and environmental feasibility of your maritime projects. Our engineers perform structural calculations, modeling, and impact simulations. These studies provide a solid foundation for any sustainable project.

Planning and phasing of works in constrained environments

We plan each stage by considering tides, traffic, co-activities, and nautical safety. Phasing helps optimize deadlines and costs while ensuring the safety of all personnel. This coordination work is essential for success in dense maritime environments.

Execution monitoring and project management of maritime works

SIDON provides full project management for your maritime projects, from the preparatory phase to completion. We coordinate teams, suppliers, and subcontractors, ensuring quality and deadlines are met. Our project managers are present on-site to oversee each stage.

Single or multi-beam bathymetric surveys

We perform high-precision surveys of seabeds using single or multi-beam sonar systems. These surveys are used for design, monitoring, or inspection of works. They provide detailed visualization of underwater profiles and morphological changes.

Geophysical and geotechnical analysis of marine subsurfaces

We explore seabed characteristics through seismic testing, coring, penetrometry, or CPT. These analyses define the nature, load-bearing capacity, and stability of the soil to properly dimension structures. They are essential in the design phase and ensure structural safety.

Underwater video inspection and 3D modeling

We conduct underwater video inspections and 3D surveys to document the initial condition or quality of execution. These tools allow us to inspect submerged structures without disrupting operations. They are also useful for technical reports and archiving purposes.
